Computer Science Logic (CSL)

Computer Science Logic is the annual conference of the European Association for Computer Science Logic (EACSL). The conference is intended for computer scientists whose research activities involve logic, as well as for logicians working on issues significant for computer science.

CSL 2011 will be preceded by TYPES 2011 (8-11 September). There is a pre-conference workshop "Epsilon Calculus and Constructivity" organised by Matthias Baaz and Georg Moser in cooperation with the Austrian-French project "Structural Proof Theory" (Sunday 11 September).

The Ackermann Award for 2011 will be presented to the recipient(s) at CSL 2011 (Wednesday 14 September).

Paper Submission

Authors are invited to submit papers of not more than 15 pages in LIPIcs style presenting work not previously published. Papers are to be submitted through EasyChair. Submitted papers must be in English and provide sufficient detail to allow the PC to assess the merits of the paper. Full proofs may appear in a technical appendix which will be read at the reviewers' discretion. Authors are strongly encouraged to include a well written introduction which is directed at all members of the program committee. Submission is in two phases with dates as given below. Papers must not be submitted concurrently to another conference with refereed proceedings. The PC chair should be informed of closely related work submitted to a conference or journal by March 19, 2011. Papers authored or coauthored by members of the Programme Committee are not allowed. Ackerman Award

The Ackermann Award is the EACSL Outstanding Dissertation Award for Logic in Computer Science. It is presented during the annual conference of the EACSL. Ackermann Award 2011 will be presented to the recipients at CSL 2011.

TYPES Workshop

The 8th Workshop on Types for Proofs and Programs (TYPES 2011) is colocated with CSL. It will be held in Bergen, Norway, 8-11 September 2011.

Sightseeing

Bergen is a picturesque former Hanseatic town located on the mountainous west coast of Norway. It is also known as the "Gateway to the Fjords". It's large variaty of attractions include the fish market, the beautiful old town Bryggen, Edvard Grieg Museum at Troldhaugen, Fantoft Stave Church, the Fløibanen cable car taking you up from the city centre to Mount Fløien (320 m), a funicular to Mount Ulriken (643 m), and a numberof interesting museums. Surrounded by seven mountains, Bergen offers numerous possibilities for scenic hikes at all levels of difficulty. Finally, a number of tours, including boat trips, are available in Bergen. Accommodation

Hotel reservations are to be made by the participants, not by the organising committee. Accommodation in Norway is not cheap. We list some suggestions below. The conference site, Grand Hotel Terminus, offers to the participants rooms, including breakfast, at reduced prices provided that reservation is made before August 1st. Booking is done through booking@ght.no identifying yourself as a participant of TYPES and/or CSL.

Comparable prices for similar accommodation are hardly possible in Bergen. Slightly lower prices can be achieved, when one accepts a significant lowering of the standard and, typically, renounces the breakfast. Note, however, that eating breakfast in a cafe/restaurant is almost unknown in Norway, so choices for such an option will be very limited. Bergen attracts many tourists and the season is not over in the beginning of September. The organizers strongly recommend to make a reservation as early as possible.

Arrival and Venue

From the airport: A shuttle Flybuss leaves the airport approximately every 20 minutes. It takes about 30-40 minutes and costs 95 NOK (150 NOK, when buying return ticket at once). Arriving in the city, one passes the stop Danmarksplass and leaves at the next one, Busstation, from which it is 3 minutes walk to the hotel. Depending on the time of the day (or night), a taxi from the airport may cost around 300-400 NOK.

From the train station: Arriving by train, the hotel/conference site is next to the train station.

TYPES/CSL'11 Social Program

• TYPES conference dinner, Saturday 10 September. We leave by boat (M/S Hardangerprins, possibly M/S Snarveien) at 18h00 (sharp!) from:

  Dreggekaien, Skur 8, on Bryggen (marked with "B" on this map).

  It takes 15 minutes to walk from Terminus to Dreggekaien. The boat brings us to the restaurant Cornelius, at the isle Bjorøy.
  Return: some time between 22h30 and 23h30.
  
  
• Excursion to Mount Ulriken, Sunday 11 September from 16h00.
  
  Hike light (35 min. walk): From Terminus (marked "T" on this map), via Kalfarveien - Kalvedalsveien - Årstadveien to the tunnel under Haukeland Hospital. Just before the tunnel, turn left, following signs "Ulriksbanen". After some bends around a construction site, one arrives at the ground station of the cable car (marked with "U" on this map).
  
  From here you can take the cable to the restaurant. Alternatively:
  
  Hike medium (60-90 min. ascent of ca. 500 m): follow the path up, starting at the ground station. You need good shoes for this, and a wind- and waterproof jacket (just in case). We recommend to go in one or two groups guided by a local. The ascent is steep but not dangerous; it is no fun in bad weather.
  
  In the restaurant at the top, snacks will be served from 18h00 (drinks not included). There may be a synchronization problem with different groups arriving at different moments, but the views are amazing and those arriving early can make a short walk in the neighborhood.
  Return: the last cable car goes down at 21h00. Busses of line 2 to the city center (NOK 25) leave from the busstop (marked "S" on this map) every half hour around ca. 21h15. A taxi from the hospital to the city center will cost around NOK 120.
  
  
• CSL conference dinner, Wednesday 14 September, 19h00, at Mount Fløyen (325m):

  Fløyen Folkerestaurant.

  You can take the funicular Fløybanen from the city center (its ground station is marked "F" on this map), 10 minutes walk from Terminus, or climb up from its ground station. This manageable walk takes about 30-45 minutes.
  Return: the funicular's last trip down is around 23h00, the restaurant closes at 24h00 and the walk down to the hotel takes half an hour.
